Milwaukee Culture Works

Fall 2005 - UW-Milwaukee
Situated in a historic and old industrial district of Milwaukee, the program of this project called for creation of a cultural museum. With limited space, visators would travel from exhibit to exhibit vertically, all around a central atrium space. The top of the atrium is constructed of a transparent material, allowing ample light in to illuminate the open spaces below.

The infill site, a narrow space with a small footprint

The main idea was to create a central atrium space that links different program
spaces together. The narrow space was ideal to have a central stair that you ascend throughout
the building, with much of the service elements along one edge.
