One idea was to have an organic series of spaces/terraces, then introduce a solid rigid element that would act as a guide down to the boathouse. This was abandoned as well. Concept sketch of final design. I stuck with the idea of creating a series of terraces, but really thought of them as a series of different park like spaces. The boathouse would be integrated into the underside of one of these spaces, providing a continuous flow of space throughout. Creating different types of spaces among the terraces. A place that was easy to get boats in and out would be on the end facing the river, while a training space would be in the back. On the right is a more public space for people to gather. Upper floor is the bar/public space with access to a roof deck that overlooks the river. Final Sections - part of the boarhouse roof is occupiable while the other is a green roof (done to blend in with landscape). One of the garden - water/bog spaces.
