Shorewood Community Center

Spring 2006 - UW-Milwaukee
Located in Shorewood, WI, Hubbard Park was to be the site for a community center that lied along the Milwaukee River. The program for the Center included seven different elements, in which the goal was that each one remain distinct from the other, but carry a common bond throughout. When the shape of the building came together, the next step was figuring out the conditions at their meeting points. By studying what the spaces represent and how I interpreted them, each one was constructed differently.

Pretty much how I pictured and felt about the approach to this project. I could literally dump a pile of sticks on the ground, and conjure space from different intersections and shapes. Through this approach to space creation, I was able to create appropriate program spaces. These included, artist galleries and studios, an amphitheatre, lecture hall and meeting rooms, and other lesser important program spaces. Web Site Photo Gallery by VisualLightBox.com v3.1
